Wisegate Counselling and Mentoring for Schools

At Wisegate our goal is to fill the gap between teachers, learning mentors and CAMHS by providing high quality, low-cost therapeutic and mentoring interventions to primary and secondary schools.

Is your school struggling to access NHS mental health services for your students due to long waiting lists and high threshold criteria?

Are your teachers spending substantial amount of their teaching schedule dealing with challenging mental health issues faced by your students?

Do your teachers and pastoral staff feel unequipped to deal with mental health problems beyond their skills and capabilities?

Are your students experiencing more need for therapeutic support to deal with increasing mental health problems and difficult life events affecting their academic, social and personal lives?

These are some of the key issues faced by many schools today. Teachers are increasingly under pressure to address their students’ mental health needs, whilst faced with huge demands of having to produce good academic results.

Our Approach

It is our innovative application of mentoring and counselling models that produces significant development of a child’s emotional and mental resilience. We believe strongly in the value of building a strong relational therapeutic and mentoring relationship, which encourages unconditional positive regard, acceptance and a secure space for young people to express their feelings, process their thoughts and begin to build self-awareness.

Our unique position of having highly skilled and experienced counsellors and mentors within the same organisation, allows us to present cost effective solutions that may not be available to schools that have to negotiate separate contracts with different mentoring and counselling providers. It is always our aim to transfer our economies of scale savings to our customers to ensure we maximise every opportunity to work with as many young people in need as possible.

We have found that our joined up approach of the mentoring and counselling disciplines presents exceptional advantages in correctly assessing the needs and requirements of your students. A student may at first instance present needs to be addressed by mentoring but our evaluation methods may uncover a counselling based therapeutic solution. In either instance we are best placed to address those needs which may require a combination of mentoring and counselling sessions. Our flexibility in this respect allows us to both anticipate, address and respond to the various therapeutic needs of your young people.
